Index.url error on windows start up

    Hello everyone

I get a strange error box that pops up stating that windows cannot find index.url, and to make sure that I have typed the name correctly and try again. This occurs when i first boot windows and arrive at my desktop screen, i checked start-up processes only the windows operating system and avast anti virus start up, everything else is disabled.

This started occuring when i installed two or three OCR programs, but have uninstalled them.

I checked the error log event viewer, but nothing seems to show something related to this error.

    any ideas?

    thanks!

Hi and Welcome to the Forum.
This looks as if you might have had a faulty install disc. When did you install the Ultimate version of Windows 7?

i installed the OS about 6 months ago

no problems up until yesterday, as i mentioned it started to occur after i installed a few ocr programs, then i uninstalled them. I don't think its directly related to that tho...

Try a system restore to a point behind when you installed the programs.
