Windows 8 64bit mouse not clicking anything but still moving

    I don't know about a conflict, but there is something corrupt, whether its the mouse driver or in Windows.

    Do you have any other "pointing" device attached?


    Try the uninstall again, but this time check the box to also uninstall the driver (if you are able).

    I don't think a System Restore, back to an available restore date when it did work, will help but that's something else to consider.

    Although I don't like to suggest it, if you don't have the latest BIOS version considering upgrading and see if that helps. The mouse should work in the Setup (BIOS).

    Reinstall the Intel motherboard chipset drivers, too, and see if that helps. The only chipset driver is an old 2008 version listed on the Dell downloads in the Vista 64 bit driver section. www.support.dell.com

    This is a relatively old PC. Dell does not officially support Win 8 on this system, but since they have Win 7 64 bit drivers, Win 8 should work OK.

    I got the mouse to work by installing logitech setpoint but the mouse only works when the program is running but is still very jerky around the screen and does things i havnt even told it to how can i make it work without needing this software as it used to work before.....

    Ended up being a dead mouse got a new one works with no problem. No more logitech mouses for me....
