Mother's Account Loads to Black Screen

The problem that I have been charged with solving is that my mom's account on our home computer (one out of five accounts total) loads to a black screen and stays there. It is strange in the fact that if it stays on the black screen long enough the bubbles screen saver launches as it would normally, and I am still able to bring the Ctrl-Alt-Delete blue splash screen where I can start the task manager/log off etc.

I hope there is a simple way to solve this issue, and if not the goal would be to save my mother's browser bookmarks that she uses regularly to pay bills etc. Are those bookmarks accessible from another profile by going into her user folder?

If she uses IE then the Bookmarks are in her User Account's Favorite's folder. Otherwise google the browser Favorites or Bookmarks file location. Another Admin may need to copy them from the account, or you can always Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console.

But I'd be concerned about infection. Run a full scan with Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download.

Then run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker.
