Hello Marc,

If you like, you could add Safe Mode to your Windows Boot Manager to select to run at startup.
Safe Mode - Add to Windows Boot Manager Screen in Windows 7
For what you wanted, you could create .bat files to do this from OPTION THREE in the tutorial below. You'll need to set the .bat files to Run as administrator for them to work.

Safe Mode

To Restart in Safe Mode:
Code:
bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal

shutdown -r -t 00 -f
To Restart in Safe Mode with Networking:
Code:
bcdedit /set {current} safeboot network

shutdown -r -t 00 -f
To Restart back in Normal Mode:
Code:
bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot

shutdown -r -t 00 -f
Hope this helps,
Shawn

thnx Shawn - how do I create a .bat file? How do I 'set it' to run as admin? I guess I would then create an icon that would then execute the bat file?

You would just need to right click on the .bat file, and click on "Run as administrator".

I went ahead and whipped up the .bat files and attached them below for you.

File Type: bat Safe_Mode.bat (65 Bytes, 6 views)

Hey Marc,

If you like, I'm working on a tutorial for this that will allow you to restart and boot to Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, and Normal Mode from a cascading desktop context menu.

I'll post a link to it when I have it ready later tonight.
