All my desktop shortcut icons have changed [more details inside]

    Hello,

First of all, this is my first post here, so I'm sorry if I'm doing something wrong here.

So, onto the problem. As the title suggests, all my desktop shortcut icons have changed. I know this is a common problem, but after a brief bit of research, I can't seem to find people with either the same problem as me, or a general fix that works. I have no idea how to describe what my icons have changed to, so here's a screenshot:

All of the shortcuts work fine, and the problem has no real effect on the performance or usage of my laptop, but it's just an aesthetic problem.

    So far I have:
    - Deleted the IconCache
    - Created a new user to see if the problem persists (it did)
    - Deleted and re-created a shortcut
    - Changed the shortcut icon

This problem originally occured because a few of the icons changed, so I downloaded "Microsoft Fixit" to try and, well, "Fixit", and it changed all the shortcut icons.

I hope that at least some of my problem has been described well enough, and any response is greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    stb1996 :)

    Thank you!

I've been looking, off and on, for weeks for a solution to the same problem stb1996 posted. This was the first time I had even seen a screen shot of what was going on with my laptop. The link that Bongo posted was exactly what I needed and it fixed my problem! Thank you so much!
