The thread title says it all.
I can't boot my Windows 7 installation ISO from DVD or USB while using VGA, but I can while using HDMI. The same goes for the Acer recovery disks too. I get the "Windows is loading files" message, then the Windows loading screen, but all that comes up after that is a black screen. Safe mode does the same thing but I haven't tried it with HDMI yet.

Like I said in my first post, I can't get into safe mode, so I'm running sfc /scannow normally instead. Will report back once I have the results.
See if there's a settings choice in your BIOS. Otherwise you may need to use VGA for install.
Make sure you're also using the latest official installer for your licensed version with SP1.
Pretty sure there's no setting in the BIOS as I've been through there countless times. Do you mean HDMI here? VGA is the one that won't show the install (even though it used to until it stopped over a year ago).
The installer is an ISO downloaded from digitalrivercontent which I believe is an official Microsoft download, and is correspondent with my Windows version.
Reset the BIOS to defaults. Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS.
Check the connections on your VGA. Try another monitor.

I've already cleared CMOS and it made no difference.
I unfortunately don't have another VGA monitor to test.
Dan I have just noticed you have two different brands ofGPU in the machine one is on the board the other is a plug in card so have youupdated the drivers for either?? I cannot find the driver for the NVidia butthe other is

In any case I think running the two brands may cause some sort of conflict??I am not sure but it is a possibility so which video outlet works for which VGAand the HDMI?? The NVidia looks like it is the on board graphics in any case.
If this is indeed the problem then maybe you will have to disable one andonly use the other??

I think we shall have to ask the graphic folks what the go is with this as I am sure if you plug in a card it cuts the on board out but as the chipset is NVidia I am still thinking maybe that is where some of the problem lies.

Maxie is right. I only ever use one graphics device at a time. I tend to use the onboard Nvidia card the most as the ATI card can make my computer and the surrounding area hot due to having a slimline case.
Anyway...
I clean installed Windows 7 last night and only have the Nvidia driver installed right now but the same problem still happens on VGA even though it is fine on HDMI.
I'm pretty positive VGA mode is disabled while using my VGA connection for some reason, but is somehow enabled while using HDMI as everything that operates in VGA mode only tends to work with HDMI, although it has worked with my VGA connection before.
When I clean installed Windows via HDMI, everything was fine until I got to the setup (username) screen where I just had a black screen. I took out the HDMI and put my VGA back in and I could see the screen again.
Hope this wasn't too confusing. I still haven't really woke up properly yet!
