[BOOTMGR is compressed] and [press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart]

My PC running 7 Home Premium was fine last night when I powered down, this morning I am getting the message
[BOOTMGR is compressed] and [press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart]
and this is repeated and I am unable to escape the same message, I have tried booting from the original disc and only get a simple windows desktop background which allows nothing.
How do I break the cycle?

    Thanks guys/gals

Thanks Brink, problem (part of) solved by reinstalling windows, now have to retrieve files from Old Windows folder, and reinstall all programs. simplification will surely follow as programs of no current use will not be installed.
    Thanks again for your interest
