Windows 7: Default file association for .ape files

Default file association for .ape files

If I double-click a .ape file in the windows file manager, windows pops up a box that says "choose the program you want to use to open this file". Two choices are there: foobar2000 and imgburn. I select foobar2000 and I click "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" and I click OK.

The next time I double-click a .ape file, that same box pops up. (How can this be?)

In imgburn, .ape files are not associated with imgburn. In foobar2000, .ape files are associated with foobar2000.

I have gone through the steps detailed here:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ociations.html
but that did not resolve the problem.

In Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs, foobar2000 has .ape files associated with it. imgburn has nothing associated with it. Yet I have to choose one of these programs every time I select a .ape file in the file manager.

Any ideas on how this can be fixed?
