Built-in Administrator profile missing, error 1511

Somehow my "built-in Administrator" has been damaged. After loading, there is a pop-up that tells me "you have been logged on with a temporary profile..." Checking Event Viewer shows Error 1511, "Windows cannot find local profile," has occurred. I believe I have an understanding of how to fix this if it were a "standard" or "administrator" profile but am not certain what to do, since this is the "built-in administrator" profile. I have tried: stopping/starting the built-in Administrator from a non-elevated administrator account. loggin to Administrator (built in) in safe mode. log off, hoping for it to create a new profile. no luck with anything. I do not have a Win7 DVD (only the hidden backup on my system hdd). there is no "Restore" available that is prior to the problem.

    Hello stars,

You might see if the tutorial below may be able to help with this user profile error. Since it's your built-in Administrator that is affected, you could also do this in any other administrator account if available.

User Profile Error - Logged on with a Temporary Profile

Hope this helps for now, :)

Open the registry . Navigate to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

Locate the SID folder . Do you see two keys that end in 500 ? One 500.bak and 500 like in the tutorial above ?

sorry for taking so long to get back--firefox got crashed.

Do I see two files ending in 500? No and Yes.
when looking from my administrator account (non-elevated) I have only one that ends in 500. It is the .bak.
when looking from my built-in Administrator (it loads as a temporary profile) I see two.

Take a look at the post #2 to get your issue fixed . Do the steps inside your Temporary user account .

ok. so, attempt the fix from the built-in Administrator (which is a temporary profile--it tells me nothing will be saved) login?

    stars,

Do you have another administrator account to log on to do this in instead?

I never had an issue . Login to your administrator account not the built in one and try there .

I'm getting confused as to which act to log in.
Yes, I have a few regular "admin" accounts. When I looked for keys ending in 500 from one of those it showed only one, the .bak key.
When I looked for 500 keys from the acct with elevated: built-in, active, Real Admin, I find two 500 keys--which makes sense, because it is loading both but they are temporary?
Do, I then, not do safe mode or the real Admin, but try from one of the regular admins?

What I do not understand is if I am deleting info for the profile I log in with, shouldn't it be from the real admin account? but if i do that will it delete the built-in profile?

When you click on the key with 500.bak on the right hand side locate ProfileImagePath it should say C:\Users\TEMP am I correct ?
