Windows 7: Black Screen After File System Check

Black Screen After File System Check

Recently on startup I have been getting a File System Check, NTFS or something. The first time I skipped it and everything loaded great. Today I tried skipping the check again and got a black screen with just my mouse cursor. This happens every time. I tried doing the check but it takes forever so I stopped it.

I tried going into safe mode but it stops when it lists all the files its loading.

What do I do? If you need more details ask.

I can't do any of those things because I can't even boot into safe mode. I tried F8, and it isn't doing anything, maybe I'm not pressing it on the right menu?

When I try to boot into safe mode, it shows everything its loading and gets stuck on:

Loaded: \Windows\system32\Drivers\ClASSPNP.SYS

Why would you think you can skip repairs which Windows 7 tells you are critical to even start up?

Boot into the Windows 7 installer or Repair CD - System Repair Disk to run Startup Repair and a full Disk Check.

If this fails work through the steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot including the hardware tests. The installer is provided in the steps to use for repairs.

I tried the startup repair first. When it was done, I still had the black screen after startup, but the file system check is gone.

Then I tried system restore, and it stated it failed to restore because of some file or something, I really don't remember.

Now what?

Run the full Disk Check from the System Recovery Options Command Line.

Try a few more Startup Repairs after confirming the 100mb System Rserved partition (preferred) or C is still marked Active: Partition - Mark as Active

If these fail then start working through the other steps in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot

I tried to Disk check with /F and it found no problems, though it failed to transfer message to the event log.

What do you mean by "after confirming the 100mb System Rserved partition (preferred) or C is still marked Active: Partition - Mark as Active"?

EDIT: I tried another startup repair and it couldn't fix it, it failed.

Use either Method Two or Three in Partition - Mark as Active to determine if you have the 100mb System Reserved partition and mark it Active. If you don't have that partition then determine by size which is your C Windows 7 partition and mark it Active as shown in the steps.

Then run Startup Repair - Run up to 3 Separate Times

If this fails then work through the other steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

Im sorry, but I'm still confused. Where did you provide the information on Option Two or Three?
