reenabling the option "ask me what to do" (and give you the dialog box to choose logoff, sleep, restart, shutdown like in windows XP)

I would like it if Microsoft would let you install unofficial themes without having to tweak your system and risk it being messed up.

Replace Regedit - time for a less problematic/corruptible way of storing info.

One small tiny little thing. Please reinstate the sharing hand icon for shared folders, so I can see that they're shared without having to select them

I would like to be able to choose to install a program without a digitally signed driver without having to override the system. Similar to being able to select yes/no on UAC..

    [ ] = check box

    Thumbnail Options:
    1) [ ] Turn off completely
    2) [ ] Turn off creation on network drives/share
    3) [ ] Turn off creation on USB memory devices
    4) [ ] Turn off creation on portable hard drives
    5) [ ] Turn off creation on local drives [E:,M:,N: ] (browse)

    RDP Sessions:
Allow 1 remote connection without logging the current user on so you can make repairs/admin the system. Maybe give it a 3 hour limit (enough time to download and install software). The limit will stop people from buying one computer and using it as 2 computers (1 local and 1 remote). That is why Microsoft does not allow 2 people (1 local and 1 remote) logged on at the same time.

    Add to Task Manager:
    1) [ ] Always keep focus on Task Manager
Add the ability to stop run-away applications/scripts/viruses/malware stuck in a loops/ taking over you machine, etc. Explanation: If you create a script that calls a program over and over say "notepad.exe" and launch it, then you open Task Manager to kill it, the script is running so fast you cannot keep focus on task manager to kill it. This also happens if you are writing a program and it gets stuck in a loop. You cannot keep focus on task manager so you can not kill it. Many times all you can do is shut the machine down remotely or power it off.

XP Mode (Remove it or Support it):
If Microsoft is going to offer XP mode for Windows 7 then Windows XP should be completely supported until end of life of Windows 7 because it is now part of a new OS. This means more service packs and all patches until the end of life of Windows 7. When Microsoft stops supporting Windows XP then Windows 7 will be completely compromised and be subject to security issues when using XP Mode.

Share Icon (Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2):
    1) [ ] Turn off completely (Windows 7 default)
    2) [ ] Use default icon (Windows XP/Vista)
    3) [ ] Use custom icon [d:\icons\SharedDrive.ico ] (browse)

    LOGON.SCR (Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2):
Bring back the LOGON.SCR. I know Microsoft is trying to be green and turn off the monitor and much of the computer and with LCD monitors there really is no burn in so a screensaver is not needed. However in development, testing, burn in, server farms, etc. The screensaver is wonderful to let you know the computer is on and running without the need to go move a mouse or tap the keyboard. Especially if you are monitoring it remotely and cannot move a mouse or tap the keyboard. (I had to program my own and every Tech or Admin that sees it wants it!)

Copy User Profile to Default Profile (Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2):
Enable the ability to copy any user profile to the Default Profile. The option is grayed out. Many Administrators and Techs use this to create a modified desktop for all users that logon to a machine. Especially on a domain, or in a classroom, a library, training, or a lab environment.

    - Being able to make the start menu as small as you want

That is rather stupid. They should NOT have to support Windows XP and create more service packs thus wasting resources that could be used on Vista or 7, just because they allowed us to have a decent compatibility mode in Windows 7.

If we used that logic, then every OS they are emulating with the Compatibility mode (list below) would have to be supported.

    Hi MICROSOFT

I'm getting Bored now -- W7 is TOO stable and it runs extremely well on my Machines.

I don't seem to have any problems any more with Windows 7 (not that I did even in Beta stage BTW).

This isn't like "normal MS Software" at all. It works, is fast and is reasonably secure. What's happened at Redmond these days -- releasing stuff that actually WORKS first time. Wonders will never cease.

Can you please release a Beta of Windows 8 -- I need something NEW to work on again.

    Cheers
