What is Macro / Script ?

I heard a lot about Macro and Scripts , something about automating task, file management, directory management, disk drive management etc.
So how can any user use that to his efficiency, like file and directory management is one thing i could associate with the prospect of learning Macro or Scripting.

Can someone suggest a starting name or universal name that comes to ones mouth when someone talks about Macros and Scripting.

Scripts are rarely used by home users, more by system administrators responsible for many computers.

If its too vague for you, then why even answer to the question which you can't provide a weak link.
Its not like i am asking for the direction to holy grail.
    Sorry for sounding rude.

Just don't be rude and then you won't have to be sorry.

You have had 166 viewers of your thread and few answers. That normally means other members don't understand your question.
If you can reword your question so others might be able to help you.
