HELP Disappearing Folder in Windows 7 - 64 bit

My HD crashed and got new Dell Computer. Had External Backup (WD). Lost Acronis software and was told that I could download a 30 trial of Acronis 2013 to recover data on HD and delete later. I did all the recovery my data of except Programs .exe files which I had saved in a "Do Not Delete" folder. Thank Heavens for forethought.

My problem is: After recovery of data, I backed up computer files using Windows 7 backup features, files, folders, etc. Made an image of computer also in the initial backup. Checked to see if my data was backed up correctly and everything appeared to be correct or, so I thought.

Next - I deleted Acronis - 30 day trial up and I didn't want the program again and be held hostage to a software program if my HD failed and I need to recover data. Also cleaned WD External Drive of all of the Acronis stuff.

NOW THE PROBLEM: I have 5 websites that I created with Frontpage 2000 and located in "My Webs". When I went revise one of the websites and upload to the server Frontpage opened with all of the necessary info relating to OS C: I have never had that happen before. The software always gives a list of the websites that I created. I checked My Documents and the folder that contains "My Webs" had completely disappeared. I went back to the Win 7 backup and checked My Documents and the "My Webs" folder was gone!!, so I assumed that deleting Acronis 2013 had something to do the disappearing folder. Nothing else was gone just this one - The one I need ASAP.

To cover myself in case of HD failure, I stored the wesites on CDs and also stored all of the necessary graphics, etc. are under the owner of the websites' name in My Documents under "Websites". So there is not problem to recreate the websites just about two weeks worth of gathering and assembly.

Could someone please tell me what happened and why my "My Webs" folder disappeared? Also, does anyone have a suggestion for a backup program that will backup all documents, etc. and will also do increment backups on a regular schedule. Thanks for your time and trouble.

I would never rely on any backup program but instead keep all of your data in the related User folder, then drag your active User folders to externaly regularly. If you want to automate this then use SyncToy - Backup User Data - Windows 7 Help Forums with the Win7 scheduler which is always reliable and doesn't risk data loss in any way.

Another modern method to backup and at the same time Sync your data to your other devices for free using the cloud is here: Sync, Backup and Store your Files to the Cloud with Skydrive - Windows 7 Forums

As to your data loss, you said you made a Win7 backup image so you can mount that image's .vhd file in Disk Mgmt to extract the needed data using Virtual Hard Disk - Create and Attach VHD.

You can always use the Acronis free WD app which has a perfectly reliable imaging feature: WD Acronis free cloning app
