    After partially partitioning my hard drive using Active Partition Recovery programme (was stopped half way through partition),
    Which ... appeared to have left your system in a corrupted state, one that will take forever to fix in bits and pieces.

    If you have install media, you might be able to do an in-place reinstall that will overwrite the system stuff but should leave the rest alone -- but that will likely hose up the applications, and you'll have to reinstall them.     FUUUCK man why the **** did I **** around with partitioning when I had no idea what I was doing?! they should warn you when you first dl the programme that It could do this so idiots like me don't fall vicitim do it. So you rekon I should try that install?

    yes, if you have the install media for it, back up your data and try
    PS: If your going to mess with partitions, I'll recommend MiniTool Partition Wizard
