Drive Letters under "My Computer" replaced by "Ngs for handwriting"?

Hi Guys - new to the forum.

The problem that I have is that all of the sudden, I noticed that when I open "My Computer", no drive letters are listed for my harddrives and DVD drive. Instead...they are listed as "NGS for handwriting Personalization. Please take a look at the provided screenshot. You will know what I am referring to.

When I tried searching this on Google, I've got some hits referencing Personalize Handwriting Recognition, but it referenced Tablet PC's/Laptops. However, my desktop pc is not a tablet!!!

Any help would greatly be appreciated it. Also, please let me know if you require additional information to troubleshoot this. Thanks.

Try changing the View in the View menu to "Tiles View." If that isn't it then it's something really weird.

Hello MegaPain, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you have a restore point dated before this happened available, you could try doing a system restore with it to hopefully fix this.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks but I've already tried the different views including the Tile view and it was the same.

Thanks Shawn. I'll give that a try when I get home later tonight and provide an update. I was hoping there was a fix for this without performing a system restore since I don't exactly know when this changed on my PC.

In the meantime, if anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know.

I tried system restore but the system requested that I run chkdsk right afterwards. I did and then it started to recover a bunch of orphaned files. The system wouldn't boot to the login screen afterwards so I ended just installing the system image that I made from July. I wish I could have found what caused the original issue but oh well.

Yeah, you wouldn't want to run chkdsk on a SSD. It can cause issues.

I'm happy it's back to normal now though.

I that you just couldn't use Defragmentation on SSD's. I didn't realize that you shouldn't use Chkdsk either. Well...now I know. This is my first SSD and I've only had it for a couple of months now. Thanks for the tip Brink.

Changing the "minimize" "maximize" and "close" buttons of a theme
Ok so I'm using a custom visual style made by another user however I don't really like the buttons used that I mentioned above. The creator states it is acceptable to change the theme to however you like as long as you don't redistribute it anywhere. Ok so I opened up the .msstyles file (using...
