Which version do I have ? After reading thru a few threads, I am trying to figure out which vista disk I bought. I can't remember how much I paid for it, but it did come in a plastic fold out case and I have changed machines but I am using the Windows 7 rc now. I don't see on the disk any way to tell if it's oem or retail, is there a way to tell ? thanks | My System Specs |

Vista disks have all versions on them (from knowledge, could be wrong), the only way i know, is when you go to install it on a computer, your serial code will identify what version you have, and install the version the serial is linked with. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS W7 RTM Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q8400 @ 2.66GHZ Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EG45M-UD2H Memory 4GB DDR2-800 Graphics Card Gainward GTS 450 GLH 1GB Edition Sound Card Integrated 8 Channel Monitor(s) Displays AOC 23.6 Inch Widescreen LCD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard HP SK-2960 Multimedia Keyboard Mouse Logitech M350 Wireless Gaming Mouse PSU Apevia Java Power 500W Case Cooler Master HAF 922 Black Cooling Stock Intel CPU Fan Hard Drives Seagate 500GB Internal

If it's in the full retail packaging, the one you need instructions to oper, then it is most likely the retail rather than the OEM, which would normally be provided in much simpler packaging.
Oh and the key for OEM disks will sometime have "OEM" as part of the key sequence | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II

Ok, thanks Uber Philf and Barman58. I was getting a little worried after reading the threads discussing oem and retail versions and I have changed machines. But from what you say Barman58, I have the retail version. - Thanks | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Windows7 HomePremium SP1 32 bit , Linux Ubuntu CPU Intel Core i7-2600 3.4ghz (Second generation) Motherboard Asus P8P67 Pro (Intel P67 chipset) My luck. Hopefully you do, of course I have seen OEM keys (on the pc mounted stickers) that do not always follow this convention.
One other way that has just occurred to me is there should be an EULA text file on the disk (something in the form of en_licence.txt ), if you can find this and check the wording it should clearly state what licence you have | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II

Well I was worried because I probaby would have bought the cheaper version when I built my pc way back when and now I have changed the m.b. and processor, but the home premium package came in a plastic fold out case and has a little 41 page instruction book with it (plus I remember it was'nt cheap).
