PC Lockup and Freezes when playing BF3/other games

    Hello,

I usually take pride in googling and figuring out my own problems, but it seems like I ran out of theories of why my PC freezes when playing graphic intensive games. In the event logs I spotted a bug check that could assist me in figuring out why the PC crashes. Unfortunately, I do not have any experience in debugging windows dump files. I would greatly appreciate anyone who can assist me.

Got it again today. I tried using the tool Whocrashed and it gave the following results:
    crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: unknown_module_00000000`00000000.sys (Unloaded_Unknown_Module_00000000`00000000+0x0)
    Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA8006AB8028, 0xFE000000, 0x800400)
    Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

Does unknown_module mean I do not have drivers installed for a specific computer component?

One possible cause of a crash while playing graphic intensive games is the GPU overheating. Are you monitoring GPU temps? A program like HWinfo64 well allow you to have CPU/GPU and other sensor temps displayed in the tray. Are you overclocking the GPU?

    +1 to this comment.

Also, did you check for the latest drivers, and did you double check to see if the game was compatible? Finally, have you tried compatibility mode? I had to do this with Diablo 3 & World of Warcraft amongst many other games for my Windows 7 Computer & Windows 8 Laptop.

I filled out my specs. I hope it helps. I updated all my drivers for GPU/Motherboard/Soundcard, etc.

I don't get a BSOD and this has been happening to me for quite sometime even before that update. I just been really busy with school and work. Had no free time to troubleshoot. Now that I have some spare time I am rather curious what could be the cause.

I have been monitoring my GPU using saphire trixx. I don't overclock anything. The GPU usually stays between 58-60 C. I may need to watch CPU temperature. The CPU came with liquid cooling not sure how efficient it is. I will do today/tomorrow once I am home.

I got my latest drivers for my motherboard/GPU/Soundcard. My PC meets the minimum standards for the game. I am running Windows 7, not sure what you mean about comparability mode. Can you provide a link? Its worth giving a shot.
