Windows 7: cannot search for things like photos, files, etc.

cannot search for things like photos, files, etc.

With win XP I could choose to have search find things like movies, photos etc. With win 7 there is no such thing? Why did MS remove this? Now I simply have to remember the exact name of a file (I have thousands of files and photos) when I do a search. This is so frustrating. Someone told me I have to use a key word like "Kind" but this is ridiculous as all there should have been was the simple XP search where you had the choice of the genre you wanted to search

Does anyone know of any third party applications that fixes this horrendous problem?

If you would like you could use the "*.jpg, *.bmp " any type of file youre looking for . just use the wildcard * with the file extension inside

Windows 7 search doesn't find things
I'll start out by saying that I don't like Windows 7 search. I liked "Search for files named . . ." or "Search for files containing text . . ." but as usual no one asked me. My problem is one that I've had since I upgraded to Win 7. I have my user folders on E: and I set a junction to point...

Top Rated Photos Search desktop not working
I've been terribly pleased with Windows 7's new feature that lets you shuffle top rated photos as a background. I just turned it on and it ran through all the drives on my machine and picked out the top rated ones, shuffling them automatically. All I had to do was derate something I didn't like. ...

Stop things from appearing in Start menu Search?
Sometimes when I search text it comes up with OneNote files, because it has the text inside that file. Now the question is simple; is there a way to make a certain filetype/program or whatever, to stop appearing in the start menu? If so, how?
