    Computer only showing desktop background


    Just turned on my computer and the only thing showing is my desktop background. When I go Ctrl+Alt+Del, I just get a blank screen. No idea how to fix this!

    I am running Windows 7 Home Premium
    MSI Z771-G41 motherboard.

    Any idea what's going on here? Very confused as it's been working fine over the last few days.

    Hello and welcome Simon mate go into safe mode and run these SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Disk Check

    Then these if you can and have them

    http://www.superantispyware.com/

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
    (download from bleeping computer if you can get the net)

    press ctrl+Alt+DEL and select task manager, click file, new process, and type explorer.exe and press enter, see if that gets you the rest of the desktop, thought, it might not be the same when u reboot

    When you are in Safe Mode see if you can go to a restore point before all this happened. This may allow you to run all the scans that ICit2lol has recommended.

I have a major issue here. I use a ordinary Windows 7 Theme, under the category "Aero Themes". However, there is no desktop background. There is only a black background. I can see everything Windows 7 has to offer, but just the background is blank. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!
