Hello archer. This is a quick tutorial for who are having problems with swapped surround sound problems using realtek alc892.

By default Linux Kernel/ALSA does not support this chipset correctly. It swaps the rear speakers, the side speakers and the LFE/center speakers as well. In other words, only the front speakers works right.
Using the "automated" realtek official driver installation leaves you to a no-sound and no hardware sound support.
So, how to install the correctly and working drivers:

1. Visit "http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false" and download the lastest Unix/Linux driver. In this example,
2. Open terminal.
3. Type: "sudo su" and enter root password.
4. Change to the folder where you downloaded the driver (ie: "cd ~/Downloads")
4. Type: "tar -xjf LinuxPkg_XXX.tar.bz2" , where XXX is the version of your downloaded driver (as sown in filename, example: "tar -xjf LinuxPkg_5.17rc13.tar.bz2").
5. Type: "cd realtek-linux-audiopack-YYY" , where YYY is the version of your downloaded driver (as shown if folder name, example: "cd realtek-linux-audiopack-5.17").
6. Type "tar -xjf alsa-driver-ZZZ.tar.bz2" , where ZZZ is the version corresponding to the filename (example: "tar -xjf alsa-driver-1.0.25-5.17rc13.tar.bz2").
7. Type "cd alsa-driver-WWW" , where WWW is the version corresponding to the folder name (example: "cd alsa-driver-1.0.25").
8. Type "./configure --with-cards=hda-intel"
9. Type "make"
10. Type "make install"
11. Reboot
12. Test the audio output. You can do this by right-clicking on you speaker icon and selecting sound preferences -> hardware -> select the desired audio output -> select the desired surround profile (ie: Analog Surround 5.1 Output + Analog Stereo Input) -> Test Speakers. During the installation the sound level can be mutted, check out in the slider if it is not mute!

Do you recommend MS Defender rather than AVG then??

RonBin79 just because you pay for a program doesn't mean it works well with Windows 7.
Defender in Windows 7 is replaced by Microsoft Security Essentials. Which is what I use.
As soon as you install Microsoft Security Essentials it will disable Defender in Windows 7.

I also have no idea where this audio thing comes from.

Now to answer your question about a tune up program for Windows 7. Don't get any such programs from anywhere to use one Windows 7. Windows 7 does not want or need a tune up program.
In my opinion also stay away from anything from ORBit and that includes Advanced System Care.

If it's true that Advanced System Care uses BitDefenters data base the question is; does BitDefender know of this use.

it is a bit shady, I agree, but i do recommend a few applications from them every now and then, and ASC should ONLY be ran as a portable application, for quick scans if anything, but I rarely use it.

I would not suggest Microsoft Security Essentials at all based on the tests that have been conducted recently:

They failed to even get a basic score. And this has happened for a couple of months. Avast and avira are the best free antivirus currently, but keep in mind this changes from month to month due to different threats, research. You have to look at consistency over a couple of months. MSE getting that low of a score on any month is not acceptable.

Best Paid consistently are Kasperky and bitdefender.

The reason MSE is suggested so heavily on this forum is due to the fact that Microsoft made it, and it has the least compatibility issues with windows. Problem with this is that with an antivirus ranking so low on scores, why even have an antivirus to begin with?

As the coverage it provides, your better off not running a AV at all. I personally would rather deal with some (rare) incompatibility issues then end up being barely protected.

All in all, its your choice. I suggest you read up on each product out there, and make your own decision.
