Who uses "Bitlocker?"

Seeing how it's included with 7 Ultimate, how many users actually use it on here?

What type of users on here use it, home? What do you really use it for at home?

I dont use it as there is nothing I keep on my computer that requires full disk encryption...I would think that it would be more suited to the corporation environment...

I think it is definately more suited to the corporate enviroment. I am using it on all of my mobile business machines. I carry a lot of financial data etc around with me and having a level of encryption in case my notebook is lost/stolen is a must for me.

I also use BitLocker To go for any USB drive that I happen to be using as well.

I don't use it at home. I agree with others it's more for the corporate environment.

On my personal machines, anything confidential goes into a truecrypt container and is stored there. Same thing with anything containing personal information that travels with me on a USB key. I considered doing Bit Locker to go...however I often work on both Windows and Linux machines....so I need the solution to support both environments which truecrypt does.

While some might believe that BitLocker is more suited in a corporate business environment, I do not believe this to be the case. Even in a home environments, full disk encryption is a good idea.

Latops and USB drives are not the only thing that can be stolen. Just because you have a hard-to-move desktop doesn't mean that it cannot be stolen. Protecting personal information such as online banking information, emails, etc. is just as important as any financial records of a business.

All my drives are BitLocker encrypted, both fixed, external and flashdrives (using BitLocker To Go). I only kepp one USB flash drive unencrypted, but that's only because I use it for work, and I often encounter XP machines that cannot read BitLocker-to-Go encrypted USB drives.

What can I say, really. I'm a born paranoid, and I don't want anybody getting their grubby little paws on anything that belongs to me, unless I give it to them.

I'd like to use it but I have some questions I haven't been able to figure out the answers to. For example, if I use BL's full disk encryption of my system partition, will I still be able to clone it successfully using Acronis TIH "clone disk" tool?

And, assuming the answer to the clone question was yes, if my Laptop was stolen, would I be able to recover my cloned backup drive on another system? And, if so, how hard would that be?

I use it on an external HD which is always with me, connected to whatever computer I am using at the office or at home.

Information on your computer is vital whether it’s for home or office use it all depends on the level of security that you want to have. A friend of mine who lives in a dorm with other students asked me to make one for him to protect his laptop.

I have them for both my laptops that I use for work and for my girlfriend’s netbook. Also installed one to my desktop at home just to keep my pesky little brother who keeps pestering mo to play Crysis installed on it (I do let him play though, I just make sure I’m home so I can watch while he gets fragged!!!)
