Who uses "Bitlocker?" Seeing how it's included with 7 Ultimate, how many users actually use it on here?
What type of users on here use it, home? What do you really use it for at home?

I dont use it as there is nothing I keep on my computer that requires full disk encryption...I would think that it would be more suited to the corporation environment... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavillion 601 OS Windows 7 Ultimate CPU Intel P4 3.4Ghz Dual Processor Motherboard Austek Memory 2GB Graphics Card Integrated 82915G Chipset 128MB Sound Card Intel HD integtrated Monitor(s) Displays HP2009m 20' HD Wide Screen Screen Resolution 1600x900 Hard Drives WD 250GB WD 500GB External Internet Speed 30mb |

I think it is definately more suited to the corporate enviroment. I am using it on all of my mobile business machines. I carry a lot of financial data etc around with me and having a level of encryption in case my notebook is lost/stolen is a must for me.
I also use BitLocker To go for any USB drive that I happen to be using as well.

I don't use it at home. I agree with others it's more for the corporate environment.
On my personal machines, anything confidential goes into a truecrypt container and is stored there. Same thing with anything containing personal information that travels with me on a USB key. I considered doing Bit Locker to go...however I often work on both Windows and Linux machines....so I need the solution to support both environments which truecrypt does. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD

While some might believe that BitLocker is more suited in a corporate business environment, I do not believe this to be the case. Even in a home environments, full disk encryption is a good idea.
Latops and USB drives are not the only thing that can be stolen. Just because you have a hard-to-move desktop doesn't mean that it cannot be stolen. Protecting personal information such as online banking information, emails, etc. is just as important as any financial records of a business.
All my drives are BitLocker encrypted, both fixed, external and flashdrives (using BitLocker To Go). I only kepp one USB flash drive unencrypted, but that's only because I use it for work, and I often encounter XP machines that cannot read BitLocker-to-Go encrypted USB drives.
What can I say, really. I'm a born paranoid, and I don't want anybody getting their grubby little paws on anything that belongs to me, unless I give it to them. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Phenom 9600 Quad Core Motherboard ASUS MB-M3A32-MVP Deluxe/WiFi Memory 2 x A-Data 2GB DDR2-800 Graphics Card ASUS ATI Radeon HD 2400PRO Sound Card C-Media 7.1 Surround Monitor(s) Displays Sahara 19" Screen Resolution 1600x1200 Keyboard Mercury Mouse Logitech PSU 800W Case Thermaltake Tai-Chi Cooling Tai-Chi Water Cooler Hard Drives 1 x 80GB Seagate (IDE)

I'd like to use it but I have some questions I haven't been able to figure out the answers to. For example, if I use BL's full disk encryption of my system partition, will I still be able to clone it successfully using Acronis TIH "clone disk" tool?
And, assuming the answer to the clone question was yes, if my Laptop was stolen, would I be able to recover my cloned backup drive on another system? And, if so, how hard would that be? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP DV8t quad OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (Retail) CPU i7-Q 720 Motherboard Motherboard Chipset Intel Ibex Peak-M PM55, Intel Lynnfield Memory 6 GB Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GT 230M (1GB) Sound Card IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Monitor(s) Displays 18.4 inch HP Infinity FHD (Samsung 184HT03-001) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard laptop Mouse Logitech VX Revolution Cooling Zalman NC-2000 notebook cooling pad Hard Drives Hitachi 500GB 7200 rpm (x2)

Information on your computer is vital whether it’s for home or office use it all depends on the level of security that you want to have. A friend of mine who lives in a dorm with other students asked me to make one for him to protect his laptop.
I have them for both my laptops that I use for work and for my girlfriend’s netbook. Also installed one to my desktop at home just to keep my pesky little brother who keeps pestering mo to play Crysis installed on it (I do let him play though, I just make sure I’m home so I can watch while he gets fragged!!!) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Bo's "Kitchen" - Custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit CPU Intel Core2 Quad Motherboard i7 extreme Memory 4gb ddr2 1066 Graphics Card 8800GTS Sound Card Realtec Monitor(s) Displays Sony HD Cooling Thermaltake Spin-Q Universal CPU Cooler Hard Drives 1 TB Western Digital Who uses "Bitlocker?" problems?
