    Annoying behavior of Microsoft Explorer

I have a shortcut to Microsoft Explorer on my taskbar. When I use it the Explorer always comes up smaller than full screen. Only half the drives and folders are visible.

I have tried everything I know to make it open "maximized" but no luck.

    Any suggestions?

Forgot: running Win7x64, Intel i7 processor.

Normally all you have to do is maximize and shut down the program while maximized and it will open maximized.

That, of course, was the first thing I tried. No joy.

Edit the shortcut properties as follows (example is for FireFox but it should behave the same for any other program)

    Thanks Golden-
When a shortcut is placed in the taskbar one doesn't get that dialog when right-clicking.

it is still possible to change the properties from the pinned shortcut on the task bar, simply open the folder attached and follow the steps listed in the file

    Hope This Helps,
    Josh :)

    Josh,
My apologies for not responding sooner. Many thanks for your excellent document showing how to perform the operation. Sad to report that, while the first attempt to open Explorer from the task bar gave me a full screen (maximized) response, subsequent attempts show that the behavior has reverted to showing a reduced image.

    Many thanks.

Just out of curiosity what happens if you use the start menu listings, Pictures.... do they also act like the windows explorer shortcut ?
Do you have any other windows which act like this,
Normal window is my preferred setting but what happens if you drag the top and sides to fill the screen ? do they snap back where they were or does windows just not remember the size ?
Have you tried to Unpin and replace the shortcut ?
    Unpin windows explorer,
Hold the windows logo key and press the R key,
    Type explorer.exe and okay.

That seems to have done the trick. Thanks.

I know you already solved your problem, but you can get that dialog by right clicking on

the Explorer Icon on the taskbar then right clicking on Windows Explorer and selecting Properties.
