    Should I install Windows 8?

hey guys and gals, today, i started to consider downloading and installing windows eight. I mainly use my computer for games, and I've heard that windows eight is not ideal for gaming. if I do install windows eight, what version should i get with my 2 gigabytes of ram? i have tried windows eight on a friend of mines computer, and it seemed pretty good on the surface, but i would like more than just my first impression to go off. i will also ask the windows eight forums, because if i only ask this one, it is sure to be a biased decision.

    thanks,
    Liam Strivelli

Unless you have specific reasons, it's probably better to stick with Win7 for the time being, especially if it currently works alright for you. If you do switch, I suppose a 32-bit version might use somewhat less memory.

I like the idea of all of the new shortcuts, and things that are generally made more organized. speaking of which, are all of the keyboard shortcuts the same?

That could be difficult here at SF. With touch screens and mobile devices W8 has proponents but for performance stay with W7. I myself bought a cheap W8 upgrade CD but won't install it till I get a touch screen or W7 losses support. My girlfriend bought a 17" lappy with W8 and she hates it, hell I hate it. Just one man's opinion!

Oh side note if you do upgrade then get the 64 bit and load the rig with at least 8 gb of quality matching ram ! With 32 bit it has a 4 gb limit with a actual usage limit of around 3.2-3.4gb. 32 bit is old school !

A wise decision Liam, you will get plenty of responses on this subject.

And because you heard it on the internet, it must be true.

Ultimately it will be your decision, if you want to try it out,

i can already tell the community for the win7 forums is much better than that of the win8 forums. thanks for all of your responses. i think ill be sticking with win7 until it loses support. hell I'd use winXP if it had support. I liked XP.

Me thinks you made a great choice, save the money and invest in 4gb of matching ram and then add a SSD !
