Recycle bin location on multi drive PC

I have a custom built tower PC
    Win_7 x64 bit

Drive "C" = SSD for OS and programs only
Drive "D' = internal HHD data only

    Desktop > Recycle Bin > RClick > Properties ...
    ... lists both drives "C" and "D"

My concern is that deleted files/folders are assigned to "C"
Can recycle bin be located in "D" drive ?
I am trying to keep my SSD as "uncluttered" as possible
    -----
I have also noticed all external HDD have a hidden "recycle-bin"
Can items be recovered from that "phantom" folder ? Or is it just a mirage. ?
When I reformated a thumb drive to NTFS it auto created a hidden "Recycle Bin" on the thumb drive.

    Thank you :)

I just avoid using the recycle bin most of the time by using SHIFT/DELETE, which deletes files without sending them to the recycle bin. Of course, I do have to be absolutely certain that I wanted it deleted because there is no recovery from that one.
