    Trouble pasting, trouble canceling paste

I tried looking this up, tried searching multiple ways and I am not getting an answer, so here I am.

Last night I cut 34.8 GB from one drive, pasted it to another. It said 50 minutes, I went to sleep. 8 hours later, it says 50 minutes remaining, so I hit cancel. It has now been canceling for around 30 minutes.

What can I do to stop this? Can I shut down? Will I lose all the stuff I'm moving?

    Hi valenz9,

My personal observation on above is that at times the system is stuck moving data if there are a large number of small sized files involved. It is usually advisable to copy and paste data first and then delete the unwanted data from older location for data security. However, as in your case you are already stuck moving the data and it is not responding anymore, I would suggest you to go ahead and End the copying process with the help of Task Manager (Right click on Taskbar and click Start Task Manager). Once you have killed the task, the data might be divided into two halves i.e. in old location and rest in new location. I would suggest you to utilize a third party data copying utility to copy the data in one place. Once such application is TeraCopy. Note that copying may take a long time if there are a lot of small files involved. Also, the program shared is neither recommended nor endorsed by Dell.

    Hope this helps.
