i was reading the tarabyte forum
i read this

Based on a number of reports, a quick search of the Microsoft forums, and testing, it's clear that Win8's new gimmick, called Fast Startup (hibernate on shutdown), is causing disk corruption. This occurs when partitions visible to Win8 are modified after shutdown (doesn't affect reboot). It appears that Windows does not clear its cache and remount file systems after resuming from hibernation. This "feature" is enabled in Win8 by default. We highly recommend you disable this new feature to prevent corruption to your partitions. Fast Startup can be disabled using BootIt BM 1.10 or higher via properties of the Win8 partition in Partition Work. You can also enable or disable this option in Win8:

1) Open Control Panel.
2) Choose Hardware and Sound -> Power Options
3) Click on "Choose what the power button does" on left.
4) Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable".
5) Remove the check mark from the "Turn on fast startup (recommended)" under Shutdown settings.

Until Microsoft changes the default, ensure you have a good current image of all your partitions before installing W8.

i know it's a w7 forum , but i would like if w7 has/had the same issue

Fast Startup is a new feature in Windows 8 so any problems associated with it cannot effect older systems. I would hardly call it a gimmick as it appears to significantly reduce startup times.

There is a related issue that could effect Windows 7 and any other system where hibernation is used. With any OS it is of critical importance that any local hard drive not be modified in any way after the system has been put into hibernation. When going into hibernation Windows does not flush the system cache for local drives. To do so could seriously impact hibernation time and performance after resume. If any files in the system cache were modified while in hibernation this would definitely lead to disk corruption.

But the risk here is more theoretical than real.

This is something that would normally never happen. How can a disk partition be modified after shutdown and before startup? On most systems doing this would be a real challenge. You would have to boot into some alternate OS in order to make any changes. It won't happen in a dual boot system with only Windows operating systems. If any OS was put into hibernation Windows will not allow selection of any other at startup. It could happen if you boot with a Linux live CD and you modified a FAT32 partition. But FAT32 is rarely used on local drives anymore and most Linux systems cannot write to NTFS.

I really don't see a problem here.
