You can choose delete or you can format the install partition ( in this case C ) either way it will remove the old operating system and any data you had on it.
Oh I meant to say D, yes it is my dvd drive.

By the way why should I take out my 2nd dvd drive before formatting?

Please post back a screenshot of Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image - Windows 7 Help Forums
exactly like it says to do it in the blue link, so we can help you better.

You need to unplug any other HD's during install, delete all partitions so that it becomes Unallocated Space, then create your partition and install to it.

F is a Dynamic disk which is only meant to be used to span a partition across multiple HD's. Is that what it's doing? If not you can Convert a Dynamic Disk to a Basic Disk

Unplug all other HD's to install Win7 to target HD, delete all partitions and create new during installl.

Hard Drive says formatting - doesn't show percentage completed
I'm formatting a hardware raid5 drive using the drive management mmc snap-in, and it's taking forever. What is making matters worse is that it doesn't show the percentage completed, it just says "ntfs, formatting" on the screen. Is there a command line or other tool to show me how far along the...

Just cleaned- Now random freezes
I just got back from a 1month vacation and my case was pretty dusty when I got back. I got a can of compressed air, removed the cpu heatsink, graphics card, hard drives and fans and blew everything out. When I booted it up after, I'm getting these random freezes that last at most about 2 secs. ...

Have you cleaned you pc lately?
I purchased my Dell Vostro about 3 years ago. It has an Intel Dual Core E6550 2.33Mhz CPU. I loaded Speccy a few months ago and recently noticed that the CPU temp was about 50 C. I also noted the case fan switching to the high speed more frequently. Hmmm... I pulled the side of the mini-tower...
