    Found atieclxx.exe running is this safe?

    I found the above process running. When I clicked on it for Properties or file location it would not respond.
    A search of the computer looking for the file did not find it. Is it necessary or safe. Listed as a possible virus online.
    Thanks in advance!

    The atieclxx.exe is a program of ATi Graphic card drivers. The function of atieclxx.exe is to give ATi Graphic card better performance so it just plays a subsidiary role. The MD5 of atieclxx.exe is 46b175d56d7235d700394ed99050617f and please be alert if its MD5 has been changed (viruses/spywares may also confuse you by using the name atieclxx.exe).

    Hello PeaB4YouGo,
    Thanks for the response. How do you check the MD5, don't recall ever trying that! What really concerned me was that it did not show a location or properties in the task manager. Appreciate your time!

    One of the easiest checksum utilities is "MD5 & SHA-1 Checksum Utility" which can be downloaded from the following site;

    I replaced my AMD graphics card with nVidia a few weeks ago, and since then had awful, intermittent latency when accessing files on the company NAS.
    When I disabled this service, the problems went away.

    edit: I was totally wrong. This didn't fix my problem! Sorry!

    Howdy CDatGNP,
    I just figured it was time for a reinstall and am in the process. No more Atipcie.exe anymore, all NVidia stuff. Can't wait to get everything installed and working so I can do a System Image. Thanks for the information, I guess I can call my issue solved!
    Take care

    i am unsure as to whether or not my atieclxx.exe application is a virus or not, i have read the previous messages on here and downloaded the program as suggested to check the MD5 and other information for it as well. These are the results I received

    MD5: 0904B1E379E9574FC78C225262CD1888
    SHA-1: F83B0DC13EFF48C8F1A2D7BBBF24129347224533
    SHA-256: 54A50C46B70DC3770DEA039126600C7E67D5C71CE320606D98DA613A35009431
    SHA-512: 89EA9E2E1FF61FE16B061BADE799379BC774A0D7446B55639935EC7EEA91EB2D0BEF5EE7AFA8D110EEF29EFE0B6F6770B9F8 CC029A571FBD7F746CB53EB9140D

    If this is indeed a virus how am i to remove it? I have Norton 360 Premier Edition and it has yet to detect this as a problem. The properties state that the file was created on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 4:36.30 PM, modified the same day and time, and last accessed Monday, December 19, 2011 at 1:55.30 AM.
