    damaged disc

    hi , my acer laptop win7 X 64 bit , a paid for version of vipre anti virus software, when i boot it up i get a message that i have a damaged disk and to let it be repaired etc, i get the option to press any key within a few seconds but this is not recommended.

    i have done what is asked quite a few times but i still continue to get this message.

    in addition some 3 weeks ago the files for my brother laser printer and also my brother MFC disappeared , i have tried many times to re-instal this software , and i have the disc for the laser printer, nothing happens ( i also have another brother laser printer connected to my desktop, so i have 2 discs ( both for HL-2140 ) neither of them will work and the discs are spinning ok.

    i have also tried to download from the brother web site, unlike previous downloads i now get a " decompression " box and later in the download another box " invalid argument "

    any help appreciated.

    If you only started having problems recently, do a System Restore to a date before you had the problem.

    Do you have some reason to believe that the message regarding a damaged disk is erroneous? If not, I would start by checking the disk for problems before it totally fails. The following link provides some useful sites for running diagnostics;
