Computer Crased Question about Restore and Proper Restart

I restarted my gateway laptop with Windows 7 and it would not boot. I left windows repair run all night and by some miracle it fixed the problem. I now have 3 questions:

1) Is there a proper procedure when restarting ones computer so this does not happen again.

2) I looked at my restore points and I only have 1 and 10GB allocated. How does one tell how much space each restore point takes up

3) In case this did not work or my hard drive had died. What program are available to backup everything such that I can restore and get my windows back and all the programs and files and all the programs work without reinstalling

Cannot get computer to join proper home network
I recently had to re-install Win 7 Home Premium on my desktop computer. In the setup, it apparently chose to join "Network," which is not the name of the network it was on prior to the reinstall. My laptop is on that other network, which for this discussion I'll call "Something 4". I know I can...

How do I restore the proper user files folders?
How can I restore the folders that are created by default in the user directory (Music, Pictures, Videos, Downloads)? I had moved them to another drive separate from my actual boot drive with Windows 7 installed, but I accidently wiped the hard drive. Now the folders seem to be gone for good and I...

Hello everyone, I am currently thinking about overclocking my new processor. To be quite honest I am a little new to overclocking and just wanted to get a few questions answered before I decide to start. I'm thinking about overclocking from 4.0 GHz to 5.0 GHz. Is this feasible? My main...
