Windows 7 vs 8 poll
On the back of more than 3 out 4 enthusiasts reject windows 8
It would be nice to have a general vote on what people think
I'll change any of the choices if needed
What do you mean? Windows 8 is great!
Tried it, Hated it. Back to Windows 7!
I haven't tried Windows 8 yet.
Gonna wait till Windows 9 (or something better comes along)
Maybe, if they created a different version for PC and Tablet
I'd rather switch to a different OS (linux etc.)

Apple did it with two different operating systems. iOS and OSX.
Why couldn't Microsoft release Windows 8 Desktop and Windows 8 Mobile????
Windows 8 Desktop = keyboard/mouse
Windows 8 Mobile = touch
My vote also.

A very old saying.
Anything that works on everything works on nothing well.
I went with the "tried it..." and "maybe, if..." options.
I haven't used Windows 8 on my PC, but I have used it on several other computers that I've worked on. I'm definitely staying with Windows 7 for the time being.
I did not vote, With polls like that 100% of the people polled would say Windows 8 is terrible, If you are going to make a poll at least have a check box for the people that like it and use both Windows 7 and 8
I voted Gonna wait till Windows 9 (or something better comes along) since there's really no reason to upgrade to Windows 8 from Windows 7.
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with Windows 8 (at least the desktop version of Windows 8) it's just Windows 7 is much more practical and does exactly same thing without having to learn how to work with two separate OS environments.
I like Win 8 well enough that I am perfectly happy with my new laptop that came with it. However, I don't feel 8 is worth the hassle of upgrading any of my Win 7 machines to run it. I didn't vote since there is no option to vote "I like both".
@Havoc - Win 8 already is a dual OS, no need for 2 separate OSes. It runs fine as a desktop OS for those of us that choose to run it that way. For those that prefer the mobile-like Start screen and it's associated Metro apps for their tablet or phone, it does that too.
With Win 8 you can have your cake and eat it too!
Two simple questions:
- Please could you give me some examples of Windows 8 features which cannot be used or are more difficult to use with mouse and keyboard?
- In which way should the "desktop" version of Windows 8 be different?
I have used windows 8 as my main OS since the first pre-release test versions. I have not nor will I get a touchscreen in a foreseeable future (not counting mobile devices), one of the reasons I like Windows 8 being how easy it is to use with a roll mouse, how fast and flexible everything can be found and used.

Used the 15$ (or so) upgrade to 8. Never looked back (admittedly, it took me some time to learn 8).
Was worth it, and with 8.1, it is only getting better
Do I sound like a fanatic?
Ran it on my desktop for 4 months, couldn't take it anymore.
1. Needs a start menu. I have 3 monitors, NOTHING gets a full screen.
2. It's UGLY. Reminds me of a 5 year old with a box of crayons (8 color box)
3. Needs an option to turn aero back on.
Yes, 8 should have been the tablet OS.
