hi, my other laptop suddenly crashed and then it cant load Windows or any mode (safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, startup repair, etc).
anyway, i noticed startup repair stops at \windows\system32\Drivers\aswRvrt.sys. i want to know if there is a way to fix this before i do a reformat and reinstall of windows.
In order to troubleshoot the issue better, please provide more information.
Are you gettinng any error message at the time of booting the computer in Safe Mode?
Are you able to boot to the desktop in normal mode?
I would suggest you to perform Startup Repair and check if the issue is resolved.

/ScanOs
The /ScanOs option scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista or Windows 7. Additionally, this option displays the entries that are currently not in the BCD store. Use this option when there are Windows Vista or Windows 7 installations that the Boot Manager menu does not list.
/RebuildBcd

no, i didnt get an error message. the screen just turned black and it crashed / restarted. after that i cannot load windows...not even safe mode. startup repair freezes on windows\system32\Drivers\aswRvrt.sys.
how do i boot to the windows 7 dvd. i put the disc in but it just goes straight to the option for Startup Repair or Start Normally?
Startup repair doesnt work. it freezes...
