    How do I make a duplicate of a file that sync with each other

    Is there any way at all to make a copy of a file (e.g: .doc, .pdf, .avi) on a different location on a hard drive that updates its twin whenever either of them is edited/changed? If not, whenever the original one is changed?

    Not exactly, you will need to setup a scheduled task that sync's these using a syncing program.

    Try this:
    SyncToy - Backup User Data

    It will show you how to do this with relative ease.

    Welcome to the Seven Forums.

    Could you give us some more details about why you need this? It does not sound like a backup scheme. It sounds like you have people editing documents in different locations on one hard drive. A bit more detail might help us to help you.

    Thanks, Golden, gregrocker

    @UsernameIssues,
    I want to sync a few excel documents that stay on my external hard drive to my Dropbox folder on my PC, so that I can edit these files from anywhere and they stay in sync with the clone files in my external hard drive when I plug it in. Is there a better way to do it?

    Use SyncToy to synchronise these files between your Dropbox folder on your PC, and the external hard drive.

    Or...use a Junction folder or Symlink the files to the other location. Basically acts like a shortcut for files.
