    I had a similar problem with my older laptop.


    Have you tried the Ubuntu Live disc or Bootable thumb drive? This works for a lot of things that Windows won't allow you to do. It's one of the many ways I recover files when I'm at school and work in the tech office.

    As for the bit locker files, a suggestion is, don't use BitLocker. I suggest you try TrueCrypt in the future, due to its universal aspects vs the BitLocker's local restrictions.
