    Windows 7 password complexity registry


    Does anyone know where I can find the password complexity registry? Or does anyone know how to make a batch file to disable it?

    Hi shadowj20, Welcome to SF.

    You can find most of these settings in the:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SeCEdit\Reg Values

    Path, for example:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SeCEdit\Reg Values\MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Netlogon/Parameters/DisablePasswordChange
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SeCEdit\Reg Values\MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Netlogon/Parameters/MaximumPasswordAge
    The other settings you are looking for are also configured in this path.

    Actually I found where that is but I still don't see the "password complexity" registry. Can you please check?

    On Windows 7 the registry backup location is: C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\SM Registry Backup.

    OK I found the location of the other settings..but still no password complexity.

    Password complexity is a part of Microsoft management console file format used by Microsoft Windows and is a collection of various snap in tools to simplify administration of a computer and create automatic tasks.

HI, I used the offline nt password recovery and registry editor to promote a standard account to an administrator. But now i cant switch it back to standard account even if i have another administrator account. It doesn't deletes the account either. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
