    You can get it to run on 512Mb, but it probably wont be the most satisfying experience you ever had...

    i will tell u how it goes on an toshiba protege M100 in couple hrs

    Windows Vista ran fine on sub-optimal hardware in the beta and RC stages - but when it hit RTM the System Requirements seem to have been coded into the OS. I was able to install Ultimate w/only 512 mB of RAM in the beta and RC versions. Couldn't do it with the RTM.

    I'd suspect the same thing will hold true for Win7 - but you'll have to try it to be sure: Windows 7 system requirements - Microsoft Windows

    the system win7 runs, but i suspect you cant run anything over the top, eg office...no drivers either
