Hi w7marci and welcome to Seven Forums,

That is nothing to be concerned about, it's indexing your hard drive to improve performance and it will settle down after a day or 2.

Do you have an old IDE or on MFM hard drive?

That was with me also. But then things run faster. Found it more concise than Vista... :~))

Unless you disable search / indexing, it's going to be indexing the drive the first couple of days, but will then quiet down after.

And there could still be some defragmentation to do.

And if you've freshly reinstalled antivirus software, it could be performing an initial background scan, etc.

    w7 noisy!!

    thank you but

    is about a week it's instaled w7
the indicization it's finished as it's written on the indicization porprerty ,

    the antivirus is not scanning

so ........i'm afraid there is the same problem similar with some ubuntu and laptop, that will reduce the life of the hard disk....

to be more precise: xp is little noisy, vista no noisy , w7 more noisy
