Icons not showing in system tray

Sometimes some icos (as eg. Avast) do not show in the system tray at computer startup.

Restarting the system will sometimes fix the problem. Anyway, it is an annoying isuue.

    How can I solve it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Are the programs actually starting when they're not showing up in the system tray?

Open Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and check Applications after startup when the icon doesn't show in the system tray. We need to confirm that the program has or hasn't started first.

occasionally i have the odd icon not show .
i find the simplest way its to restart explorer.
you can put a restart explorer option in the desktop right click context menu using this tut

Explorer - Add "Restart Explorer" to Desktop Context Menu

The programs whose icon do not show do not appear in the task manager.

Please help me solve this problem.

    Hello Pieren,

Double check using step 5 in the tutorial below to make sure that you have the Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar box checked.

Notification Area Icons - Hide or Show System Icons and Notifications

In addition, check the settings in each program that doesn't show up to see if there may be a "Show icon in task tray" type of setting to turn on.

    Hope this helps, :)

    Thanks for your help.

I have checked the settings of every single program.

Checking the box "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar" does not solve the problem either.

Actually, sometimes programs do not load at startup and that ti why they do not show in the system tray.

In addition, did you check each program settings for a "Run at startup" option?

As a test, you might see if uninstalling and reinstalling a program will sort it for that program.

I've had this problem (W7 x64) and the simplest fix for now is to run CCleaner and check the clear "Tray notifications cache" as per attached pic.
