I have tried the safe mode with networking before with no luck. I am currently trying to do a virus scan from Ultimate Boot CD in case I have something nasty that is replicating itself when I do a clean install.

I have even tried installing to another HD on my system to rule out a faulty HD still with the same issues.

Will see how the virus scan goes...

How did you turn of the search feature? What happens of you turn it on again, does the problem go away?

If i have the search feature turned back on, as soon as I start up I get the search window pop up. It always focuses on the search bar.
If I open a web browser, it focuses on find. So if I try typing in google search window, it focuses on the find bar and constantly searches. So it may only allow a few characters to be entered. It is highly annoying.

My AV check ended up deleting system files and not even allowing windows to boot. So looks like i will be attempting yet another install!!!!!

See at what point the search window starts popping up when you do another clean install. Is it immediately after the install completes or after you do other things, like install additional software, and if so, which one?

Well I completely formatted my whole Hard Drive and disconnected the others just in case there was something nasty lurking on one of them. Did another reinstall, rebooted, crossed my fingers, and wham... Search window pops up...

After stringing together some expletives into a very plausible sentence and a bit of head scratching, I finally found the solution...

I unplugged my keyboard!!!

Yes the cause of my problem was as simple as unplugging my stupidly expensive keyboard! Back to the cheap ones for me haha

Thanks for all your help

EzTrgt thank you very much for posting the fix.
Could you let us know what keyboard it was and how long you have been using it?

The keyboard was a Logitech G15. Probably had it about 3-4 years. The annoying thing is I only used the F4 key a handful of times!!!
