How to fix Search:crumb=location error

Had an issue with the Search window constantly popping up making my PC unusable.

I switched of the search feature then got the search:crumb=location error. Thought it might be an issue with Windows so I re-installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Pro x64. The issue was still there. As I had installed a Graphics Card recently, I swapped this out for my old card (nvidia 260gtx) and tried again, still have the same issue. Tried a few things like rebuilding indexes but to no avail

So I currently have a fresh install of windows with no extra programs installed and this annoying search:crumb pop up error still persists.

Anyone got any ideas?

When you did the fresh install, did you format so it was a clean install, and not a repair (install over) install?

It was a clean install. I always delete and format system partition when I do a re-install. I also ran memtest yesterday to check it was ok and it passed

Let's see what starts when you boot your computer.

Download and run Startup List (does not need to be installed, just run it).
When done, click File then Save as and save Startuplist.txt to your Desktop or somewhere you can find it.
Start a reply here and paste the contents of Startuplist.txt into it.

What is BDA Tuning Model?

This is not something that I need. A quick google search shows that it is for streaming video. I will try to disable it and see how that goes

How does it behave if you boot to Safe Mode with Networking? If better then something is starting at boot that is causing the problem.

Use msconfig to determine what is causing the problem

These are good tutorials on using msconfig in XP, Vista or Windows 7:

How to use msconfig in Windows 7 and Windows 8

Click on Start then Run, type msconfig and press Enter.
Click on the Startup tab (for Windows 8, the Startup tab has a link to open Task Manager/Startup tab. Use that.), record what is currently starting then click the Disable All button.
Reboot and see if it runs better.
If yes then use msconfig to enable several items at a time till you find the culprit.

If no, start msconfig and click on the Services tab.
Check the Hide All Microsoft Services box, record what is currently starting then click the Disable All button.
Again, do a regular boot, see if it runs normal.
If yes then use msconfig to enable services till you find the culprit.

Once you've found the culprit, uninstall it or find out how to eliminate it from your system. Simply disabling it in msconfig is a temporary fix at best.
Enable everything else you disabled.
