Hi, how many of you have finally done it? Hi all, this is my first post on the forum, but i've been reading with interest for some time befoere jumping in!
I'm ready to do a clean install, so i'd like to ask,
So, how many people on here are running Windows 7 Beta as their main OS now?
Do you have Vista installed as a backup, or are you so confident in the new OS, that apart from a few teething problems which are communicated through feedback you feel that it's stable enough to run as a main OS? | My System Specs |

Hi saverio and welcome to the Forums,
I am dual booting with Vista ussing seperate HDD's and using Windows 7 as my main operating system and to tell you the truth, the more you use Windows 7 the less you will whant to use Vista and the older it feels and if you are coming from XP I think you would just be amazed at all the great features and inovations, just make sure you have all your updated drivers ready and you should be good to go.
If you do run into any problems you know where to go, good luck | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Brew OS Windows 7 Ultimate Vista Ultimate x64 CPU Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz @ 3.8Ghz Motherboard eVGA 750i FTW Memory 2x2Gigs Patriot PC2-6400 LL Graphics Card Inno3D GeForce GTX260 216 SP Monitor(s) Displays ASUS VW222U 22" 2ms Response time Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Mouse Logitech G9 Gaming Mouse PSU HYTEC 600W & Thermaltake 650W Toughpower Power Exp Case Thermaltake Armor LCS (Liquid Cooling System) Cooling Liquid Cooling System Hard Drives SATA 150GB

I agree with Mr. Grim on this one. Vista is looking old now compared to Windows 7.
I also first went the dual-boot route, just to check it out. I was so amazed with the changes (for the better) and the stability of a BETA, that a few days later I decided to wipe my entire system, and now I'm running only on Windows 7.
And the one conslusion I can draw is this: If this is the kind of stability Microsoft can offer us with a BETA product, then I think the final release is going to be something spectacular! | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Phenom 9600 Quad Core Motherboard ASUS MB-M3A32-MVP Deluxe/WiFi Memory 2 x A-Data 2GB DDR2-800 Graphics Card ASUS ATI Radeon HD 2400PRO Sound Card C-Media 7.1 Surround Monitor(s) Displays Sahara 19" Screen Resolution 1600x1200 Keyboard Mercury Mouse Logitech PSU 800W Case Thermaltake Tai-Chi Cooling Tai-Chi Water Cooler Hard Drives 1 x 80GB Seagate (IDE)

I've done it Hi!
After an initial test-installation for a few days (having my primary Vista-Installation still on an other HDD), I've dumped that one and am using Seven as my primary (and only) installation.
I love the new features and won't wait for the final to use them
EDIT: When creating the second (now used) installation I used the opportunity to activate Bitlocker for my bootdrive. Works great as well.

I also did dual boot (with XP), but I only booted XP once till then. This PC orginally was my computer to do handicrafts on and I used a laptop as main PC, but now the Lap is banned as well as XP. Windows 7 is sooo nice to work with, although it has some flaws and feutures I still miss...

I went with an upgrade from Vista 64 to Windows 7 64...so it's my only OS on my main PC...
So far it's working fine with all my video editing software.
It was a new build though, so I wasn't risking much. I still have my old machine with XP and my wife's Vista laptop for backup.
And I agree...I don't want to go back to XP or Vista... | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Profesional 64bit CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965 - 3.99 GHz Motherboard ASRock A780GXE Memory 8GB DDR2 1066 Dual Channel Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 3650 Sound Card Realtek ALC888 (on board) Monitor(s) Displays Acer 22" wide and Acer 17" Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitech Mouse Logitech PSU Ultra LSP650 650w Case ? something I had Cooling AeroFlow FX92 Hard Drives Intel 80G SSD G2, WD1001FALS, WD1001FALS, WD1001FALS, Cavarlry 500GB external Internet Speed ATT DSL top level |

Hi saverio and welcom to Windows 7 Forums
I am currently running a triple boot system, and am booting into Windows 7 by default. All 3 OSes exist on the same array, but in different partitions. True, Windows 7 has some bugs left in the code, but on the whole it is very stable (given that it is still in Beta), and I have had no major problems with it. I have had no problems driver-wise either, and have found that, in most cases, Vista drivers work satisfactorily on my system. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Dwarf Dwf/11/2012 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Service Pack 1 CPU Intel Core-i5-3570K 4-core @ 3.4GHz (Ivy Bridge) (OC 4.2GHz) Motherboard ASRock Z77 Extreme4-M Memory 4 x 4GB DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B (16GB) Graphics Card 2 x AMD Radeon HD7770 1GB CrossFired (OC 1100MHz/1250MHz) Sound Card Realtek High Definition on board solution (ALC 898) Monitor(s) Displays ViewSonic VA1912w Widescreen (VGA) Screen Resolution 1440x900 Keyboard Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000 (USB) Mouse Microsoft Comfort Mouse 3000 for Business (USB) PSU XFX Pro Series 850W Semi-Modular Case Gigabyte IF233 Cooling 1 x 120mm Front Inlet 1 x 120mm Rear Exhaust Hard Drives OCZ Agility 3 SSD 120GB SATA III x2 (RAID 0)
