I need to identify what Version of Windows 7 is on a friends laptop

I am helping a friend with his laptop (Dell Inspiron 1750). The hard-drive is dead and I only have the Microsoft COA. It is Windows 7 Home Prem OA. Not sure if it is 32 bit or 64 bit so i can reload the new hard-drive and use the same COA. Thanks JLJE

The COA sticker should have the info on it. As far as I know a key can be used to activate EITHER 32 or 64 bit on one machine.

You'd google the model for specs, learn it's Core 2 Duo 2.1ghz, ships with 4gb RAM which is right on the border of 32/64 bit. Dell Inspiron 1750 Laptop Computer Specs (Intel Core 2 Duo P7450, 500GB HDD, 4GB) - Laptops - CNET Reviews

If RAM was upgraded more than 4gb you'd definitely want 64 bit. Otherwise you can try 64 bit, although I often install 32 bit on 4gb RAM or less to get better performance.

Everything you need is here to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
