got built system again. ran prine95 to burn in and when at 100% load it's sitting at a very steady 74 which is high but the 60 degree temp warning isnt going off. however when prime is closed and the computer is just sitting the lowest ive had so far is 39 degrees baring in mind i havent bothered with a case fan yet. will this get better after a couple of hours with prime running and a case fan?

put case fan in and made no difference. cpu fan is on backwards so it is blowing air into the heatsink and i cant mount it in reverse. with cpu fan running at full speed it hasnt made a difference. i think im probably just gonna send the whole system back, ive had enough of pissing about because my stuff is faulty.

CPU fans always push air over the fins. I guess I'm confused, are you still getting the beeping? 74c at full load isn't too crazy and your system won't load up like that other then bench marking. Then 39c at idle is fine in my book, you have a snappy rig? It's cool to the touch, it's not beeping at you every minute. Is it that you just want lower temps to be read?

what are you using to read your temps? try core temp amd says danger heat is 74c for that cpu so considering your not always loading it at that that's fine. are you still hearing beeping?

was using hw monitor and pc wizard. tried core temp but didnt read temps of cpu for some reason. a few other programs said cpu was at 94 degrees! and when i start the system up and check bios cpu temps is generally sits at about 57 degrees. is your system at idle when in the bios? also when i was starting prime 95 i would look at the temps and they would go from about 45ish straight to 80. normal?

for it to jump in temp is normal in prime 95 since it maxes every core with a work load and to do it quickly is common with the stock cooler. can you post a screenshot of core temp since its odd that it cant see it nvm found this and it seems its because of the new sensor it uses.. does your chipset have amd overdrive included with it, search for overdrive when hitting and if you have it run it and see what it says under status monitor/cpu status like my pic below. http://download.amd.com/Desktop/aod_setup_4.2.6.exe it might not install on your chipset since its quite new (A88X) and seems amd is not telling anyone if it does so just see if it will install or not (do NOT OC with this program). speccy will also read your core temp among everything else.

Edit: that stock cooler is real bad i would opt for a h100i if you can afford it or get a Noctua NH-U14S for cooling that cpu.

I would say that 40 degrees is just fine. Remember that APU's are pulling double duty as both a CPU and GPU in one.
