Excluded from indexed folders are included in indexing

First post.

I always used to be able to exclude certain folders from indexing but for some unknown reason now I can't.

I go to 'modify' in indexing options, deselect the folder(s) that I want to exclude, and they appear in the 'excluded' column, same as before. I click on 'advanced' and then 'rebuild index' and then after it starts to rebuild, the excluded folder name immediately disappears from the 'excluded' folder column, and is then indexed.

Any idea from anyone as to how to resolve this enormously appreciated.

Personally, I hate Windows search to in its entirety. I simply turn off ALL indexing and use SearchMyFiles (IMO another great Nirsoft freeware tool). I find it and easier and simpler user interface for searches and options

Stop the re-indexing of FTP folders
First I hope this is the right place to post this question. I am web developer and as such this means I use the FTP abilities of Windows a lot. For the sake of speed I need to stop it form indexing an FTP folder every time I click on it. It's fine if it indexes it after I upload a huge number of...
