    Which version do I have?

    I currently have 7600.16385-1255 installed - it's the 64 bit version. Is this the same as the latest retail version?
    Also, I am getting a genuine Win7-32 bit with activation key that will work for both the 32 and the 64 bit version. Where can I get the disc for the 64 bit version? And, once I get the activation key, should I just activate what I have, or try to get the disc w/the 64 bit and do a clean install?

    7600.16385 = RTM = Retail

    So, should I reformat with the retail version and where can I get the 64 bit version if I have the activation key for both versions?

    I'd be careful about the forum rules here. If you have a legit version, then you know exactly what build it is, and whether or not you have the RTM version.

    If you need to ask what version you have....you most likely didn't obtain it from a legit source.

    Technically, I know what version I have, I just wanted to know if it's the same as the retail version. I will be going to a MS event where they hand out a DVD with W7-32bit and I want to use 64 bit. The key supposedly works for both 32 and 64 and I want to be able to start using the 64 bit version. Then, when I get the key, I will activate it. I admit it sounds fishy, but I really want to do this the legit way. If there is a flaw in this thinking, I would like to know what it is.

    Is there a reason Microsoft isn't handing out 64-bit DVDs?

    I don't know anywhere you can download it legally without buying it.

    Not supposedly...it will definitely work and activate just fine.

    You're guess is as good as anyone's. However, with Vista, I attended some events and got a few 32 bit licenses. I was able to purchase the x64 media from Microsoft for about $10. I'm hoping this will be an option with Windows 7 as well.
