    Everything opens in WordPad

Don't know what happened, but now all my icons are for WordPad and all my short cuts open in WordPad. Even my internet shortcuts open in word. I've tried restore and that didn't change anything. I've tried changing the icons in the properties dialog box and they will not change. HELP!!

    Hello Ronnie,

You should be able to download and merge the .reg files for the affected file types (ex: .lnk (LNK for shortcuts) and .url (internet shortcuts)) from the tutorial below to restore their default associations.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Hope this helps, :)

Another alternative is to browse to Computer and then under C\users Right click your user profile folder, and choose restore previous versions. Then choose the day before this happened and click restore. Everything will be back to the way it was.

    System Restore

This happens usually because something you opened had an option to always open with that file checked by default. Sometimes buggy programs cause then everything to open with that program. It happens.
