    My shortcuts no longer work

I was using Pale Moon x64 as my browser, but it crashed, so I uninstalled it. I installed Firefox and everything is working except for my shortcuts. When I click on them I get an error message that says, " Shortcut URL, Application not found" where shorcut URL is the actual web address. If I copy the URL and paste it into the Firefox browser, it works fine. Also, when I try to create a new shortcut I get the same error message. Is there a fix for this?

    Hi :) .
Sounds like the association for .lnk has been changed, you can try restoring back to defaults.

Does this only affect URL links?

I applied the LNK reg file and rebooted, but the shortcuts still do not work.
Yes, the problem is only with URL shortcuts. That is, program shortcuts still work and folder shortcuts still work.

Try the same tutorial but this time for url.

If that doesn't fix it post a screenshot of a url shortcut, of the General tab and the full URL: under the Web Document tab.

Doc1.docx (2 pages - scroll down to see page 2)

The URL reg patch did not change anything. Attached is a screenshot of a shortcut for Google.com.
I also just got an email with a URL link, and that did not work. When I click on the link, nothing happens, but when I copy and paste that link into my browser, it works fine. I am using IE10 and Firefox. When I surf, links found on websites work just fine.

    Hello Donny,

This wouldn't be an association issue. Instead, it would be a setting in your email client to allow you to open URL links or not.

What email program are you using?

I use Thunderbird, but the links used to work before I had the problem with the desktop shortcuts.
