Is it just me, or is 7's UAC MORE annoying than Vista?

I do have local security policy, but when I attempt to open it, it says that I do not have permissions to do so... Looks like I'll have to log out and back on again as admin...

Are you on a user account? I mean without administrator permissions?

When you see that box, isn't there a checkbox that offers you to remember your username password?

The most annoying thing with UAC is when I click on a program to install or set up, and I have to give permission.

HELLO, I JUST CLICK ON THE INSTALL PROGRAM! So YES I am ok with it. I dont know exactly what or how the UAC does its thing, but I would think it should have been set up a little differently. I dont know exactly what the point of it is. Ive never seen it prevent anything. The only thing I can see that it does is ask me if I REALLY want to open a program that I just clicked on. Never seen it activated by some outside virus or something. Never.

Aha! After adding my domain account to local administrators, I just needed to log off and then backon again, and it is now no longer bugging me to death!!! Yay!

Thank you very much everybody for your prompt replies!!!

I guess that means you were running as a standard user. What happened to your standard Seven (not quite but stilll)Administrator account?

Once you have given any application administrative permission, it can accomplish system-wide changes, install drivers, whatever. I think one prompt is not too much bother - you pause and rethink - why does this sucker want to go system wide?

When I test for malware on those poisoned searches, the second it does this, I know it's bad.

I still do have a regular user account on my box, but I never use it, instead I use my domain account, because I have a user profile that I've been upgrading across OS's for like 15 years now. By using the same username, I avoid a lot of problems, and get to keep all my files, mailboxes, shortcuts, fav's, etc., without ever having loss of continuity.

Btw, who setup this forum? It is awesome! Kudos!!!!

But you see the computer does not know if YOU are the one who ran the application requesting administrative privileges. So it is going to ask before it grants privileges to make sure YOU requested it.
