Old laptop on last legs, New one on the way, have a question

Hey guys/gals, my HP G62-37DX laptop is on its way out. I get a BSOD almost every time I turn it on (Caps Lock blinks once every few secs), even if I only put it to sleep. Takes multiple hard resets and some luck (I'm assuming) to get it to boot up. I tried re-seating RAM but it doesn't do a thing. Anyhow, I have a new Toshiba Satellite on the way, and was doing a bit of research because I DESPISE Windows 8, and it seems that I can downgrade to Win7 with a bit of finagling. The Toshiba website has the Drivers for my version of Windows 7 (x64). But my problem is that my HP laptop came with Windows 7 pre-installed (I don't have any install discs or other media), so what i wanted to know is if there is anyway to get my HDD to boot Windows 7 on my new laptop, or am I totally boned? *Sad Face*

An OEM license is good for one machine. Even if you could boot from the old drive, the unique identifier wouldn't match the new machine. The NewEgg just had a sale on Windows 7 Pro. You might check to see if it's still good.

Thanks for your reply, I suppose I'll be purchasing myself a copy of Windows 7 :)

Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7

Is that the original HP factory preinstall, the worst possible install of Win7 one could have larded with the worst load of bloatware in the industry? If so I'd do what most tech enthusiasts do and get the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which is a perfect install.

If your install comes close to that one then collect the Blue Screen file to post up for our experts' analysis: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Windows 7 Forums

Until then you can work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7
or if it won't stay booted Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start
