    no right clicking for me... explorer is DEAD


    my explorer is now dead. i just randomly went on my pc and logged on the first thing i see is "explorer.exe has stopped working" so i restarted it. my pc froze when explorer was restarting for a few minutes (really long for restarting a process...) and now my pc is just acting plain WEIRD. here are some examples...

    going to my start menu and typing things like c:\users\mint\ or any location on the disk, or even trying to open an explorer window at all will just do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. no explorer windows will open, as if i didnt click anything!

    also, another weird thing. i left media player and cmd open while i was gone... both of those windows where totally frozen when i was back, i tried opening a mp3 file and it said this:
    "(filename here) The remote procedure call failed and did not execute." although it works fine if i drag the mp3 on to WMP

    i cant right click on the desktop or on the notification bar thing (the one with all the icons) it just does nothing once again.

    i cant show desktop

    i cant end any programs in the task manager, it just does nothing!

    and my pc is just slow now. i did nothing between the times explorer stopped working and it was fine except for do windows + L and thats about it... so unless some explorer.exe virus MAGICALLY CRAWLED ONTO MY PC WHEN IT DIDNT EVEN HAVE INTERNET i have no idea what is happening!

    i did malwarebytes scan, somehow i had some malware i didnt yesterday... but that's all gone just some random PUPs. sfc /scannow says theres nothing wrong with the windows files.

    First of all you can try and be a little nicer, people are trying to help you.

    I would first test the HDD for errors, than if the results indicate it is in good condition I would scan for infections.

       Warning
    The Following Method Should NOT Be Performed On An SSD!

    Testing the HDD:

    1. Perform a Disk Check | Disk Check- Scroll down to OPTION TWO of the tutorial and use the /R switch in the CHKDSK command | chkdsk C: /R.
    2. Then Post the Disk Check results following | This Tutorial.
    3. Once back in Windows, download Crystal Disk Info and post a screenshot (multiple shots if you have more than one drive).
    4. Download SeaTools for DOS if you don't want to use a CD to test the HDD you can use YUMI – Multiboot USB Creator to create a bootable USB (instructions are found at the bottom of both pages).
    5. If SeaTools for DOS is unable to recognize your HDD:
    6. Visit HDDdiag and follow the instructions | Or follow the instructions below.

    If SeaTools For DOS does not recognize the drive;
    Boot into the BIOS using the *Fx key.
    Look for an entry called SATA Mode (or something similar), it should be set to IDE / AHCI.
    It's probably set to AHCI which is why SeaTools doesn't recognize them in the DOS environment.
    Set it to IDE then save and exit usually by pressing the F10 key.
    Now boot into SeaTools and it should detect the drives.
    Start the Long Test and let it run.
    Upon completion don't try to boot into Windows as it will only result in a BSOD, go back into the BIOS
    and change the SATA setting back to what it was in the first place.

    I am not using an HDD, I am using an SSD. I scanned with Malwarebytes and Avast! and nothing came up. Rebooting fixed the problem, but not entirely. Sometimes WMP or a normal explorer window gets frozen and I have to end it with task manager and restart explorer.exe, and restarting explorer.exe is what is making it act weird somehow.
